Morah Jill is our Kitah Bet (2nd Grade) teacher in our Hebrew School this year. Previously she taught younger grades for two years. “Judaism has always played a big role in my life and my family has always made it a priority,” she says. “The Jewish community has made me feel a sense of belonging and pride for my identity. I was drawn to Jewish education as a way to share my passion for Judaism and inspire our future leaders by making Hebrew School fun for them. Every time one of my students comes in to Hebrew School excited or demonstrates a true understanding of what we are learning I am proud to know that I have helped create a strong Jewish identity in that child.”
Diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis at 17 months old, Jill is keenly aware of what it means to have special needs, be it physical or other. When it comes to involvement in Jewish Education, Jill has been connected her whole life. She went to preschool at Kellman Academy, Hebrew School 1st grade till 10th grade at Congregation Beth El in Cherry Hill, and Midrasha Hebrew Junior College for 11th and 12th grade where she received a certification in teaching Hebrew School. She is currently a Jewish Studies minor at University of Delaware. She exclaims, “I guess I must really love Hebrew School because even as a college student I just keep going!”
Jill met Rosh Roland at the Kristol Center (Hillel) at UD two years ago and jumped at the opportunity to work at CBS. When it comes to her future, she shares: “I want to help people and make a difference in the lives of others. I am not really sure what field I want to work in yet, but I am thinking either Child Development or Jewish Communal Service.”
