Hebrew School Administrator

The CBS Hebrew School is seeking a part-time administrator to perform administrative and office support activities for the Cantor/Education Director.

The responsibilities of the administrative assistant include but are not limited to:
- Fielding telephone calls and emails
- Word processing
- Sending weekly emails to staff and Hebrew School
- Creating spreadsheets, flyers and presentations
- Organizing documents and files
- Running errands
- Helping to plan school events and field trips
- Organizing and completing projects and assignments
- Receiving and directing visitors
- Working with B’nei Mitzvah families

Required Skills:
- Extensive computer skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to accuracy and detail
- Effective multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work calmly under pressure
- Ability to work independently
- Punctuality and reliability
- Internet research abilities

Hebrew School Teachers

We are searching for educators who will instill a love of Jewish learning, who will foster positive relationships with students and their parents, and who will demonstrate effective time management and organization.

Responsibilities
• Teaching a class of 5-15 students
• Development of lesson plans which are submitted to the Head of Education
• Regular communication with students and parents
• Attend all staff development and faculty meetings

Requirements
• Prior experience in a similar position
• A working knowledge of reading and writing in Hebrew
• Demonstrated ability to be flexible to individual student needs
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Must be able to create an environment conducive to learning

Marketing Assistant

CBS is seeking a part-time marketing assistant to prepare regular digital and paper materials to advertise programs and events at CBS.

The responsibilities of the marketing assistant include but are not limited to:
- Sending weekly congregational e-newsletter
- Sending weekly Hebrew School e-newsletter
- Preparing flyers
- Managing the CBS Facebook page
- Assist with major mailings such as the Annual Appeal
- Advertise CBS events with the Jewish Federation Community Calendar

Youth Program Advisor

We are committed to social justice, interfaith dialogue, and the perpetuation of the State of Israel.

Congregation Beth Shalom is seeking an energetic leader for our youth engagement programs. The Youth Program Advisor will be responsible for leading our youth engagement activities for 4th - 12th grade. This person will work with synagogue staff, board members, clergy, parents, and youth group members to develop and sustain a robust calendar of events.

Description:

Atid (4-6th grade) Plan, coordinate and attend programs/activities for Atid. The events will be designed to increase the participation and engagement of the synagogue’s younger members.

Schedule: 1 event per month, usually Saturday or Sunday evening


Shalom Corps (7-9th grade) Instructor is responsible for preparing and teaching lesson plans for this creative and multi-approach curriculum that combines traditional Jewish learning, hands-on community service, and activities to build friendships.

Schedule: 2 Sunday mornings per month


Sababa (9th-12th grade)Sababa or “Cool” in Hebrew is a continuation of the earlier programs with an increased focus on education, similar to the confirmation program that some synagogues utilize. It is designed to renew the excitement in our Jewish culture and religion post bar-bat mitzvah.

Schedule: TBD, but likely 1 event every 1-2 months.


Requirement:

  • working knowledge of Judaism and holiday observances.
  • at least 21 years old
  • prior youth group experience as a teen leader and/or youth advisor
  • excellent communication skills and be able motivate youth and adults
