Choosing a summer camp program for your child involves some important research. Because the camp experience will have significant impact on your child's life, it's important for parents to learn to choose a camp wisely. We've listed below some of the major Jewish Camps in our area and hope you will explore their offerings. (If you know of a camp that is not on our list - let us know and we will gladly add it.)

Photo of Camp RamahCamp Ramah in the Poconos is a total experience whose impact lasts well beyond the summer. Ramah is friendship and community. Campers develop skills and leadership, life-long friendships and a Jewish consciousness that enables them to become active contributing members of their families and home communities. (There are several Camp Ramah locations throughout the United States and Israel. If you wish to explore other locations, please visit http://www.campramah.org)

Camp Galil (http://www.campgalil.org)

Since 1946, Camp Galil has been providing campers with a unique, fun, kibbutz-style summer experience. With an emphasis on community and Jewish values, Galil creates an environment that grows leaders, while fostering friendships, personal growth, and a strong connection to Israel that lasts a lifetime.

Camps Airy and Louise (http://www.airylouise.org)

Serving generations of Jewish youth for over 80 summers, both Camp Airy and Campy Louise are conveniently located a bit more than an hour from Washington DC and Baltimore. We're ideally situated near local, state and national parks as well as near historic sites and beautiful areas like Gettysburg, Harpers Ferry and Antietam.

Pinemere Camp (http://www.pinemere.com)

Pinemere was established in 1942. The Jewish Welfare Board (JWB), which subsequently became the Jewish Community Center Association (JCCA), founded Pinemere as a Mid-Atlantic regional camp. Set in the heart of the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, Pinemere has created an exceptionally beautiful environment to foster the positive growth and development of each of its campers. Pinemere is dedicated to offering children a chance to enjoy a summer camp experience in a majority Jewish setting where they can grow socially, emotionally and spiritually.
