Social Action (Tikun Olam)
Congregation Beth Shalom is proud of its efforts in "repairing the world". We participate in a variety of activities, both large and small. Every chance that we get to improve the world, we do.
Habitat for Humanity
Congregation Beth Shalom continues to participate with Habitat for Humanity on the Unity Build. The Unity Build is bringing together volunteers from the different faith communities in the greater Wilmington area. Beth Shalom is proud to be a part of this interfaith service opportunity. For more information, please contact Janet Rice.

Congregation Beth Shalom participates in an annual Rabbi's Passover Drive” fundraiser for Mazon, the Jewish Response to Hunger. Please contact the Rabbi if interested in helping this upcoming year.
Emmanuel Dining Room
Volunteers from our Congregation prepare and deliver meals to be served to those less fortunate at the Emmanuel Dining Room. Preparation dates vary, but occur regularly on our calendar. For more information, please contact Elaine Schmerling, Warren Butt, or Ruth Forman.
Hanover Food Pantry
The Food Pantry is run by volunteers from our friends at Hanover Presbyterian Church and serves over 1000 people each year. Food is donated by our congregants several times throughout the year, most notably during our annual High Holy Days Food Drive. For more information, please contact Marlene Ornston.
Sisterhood Outreach Committee
The Sisterhood Outreach Committee, in conjunction with Immanuel Church and Olive Tree Ministries, has set up programs at Hope House, the shelter for women in transition. The women are in their newly renovated home at 8th & Van Buren. The programs are one hour, from 7:00 to 8:00pm. There is street parking and we’ll arrange car pooling from Beth Shalom. For more information and dates, please contact Judy Dolinger.
